EAST HAVEN LAND TRUST , INC.

This wetlands parcel is located just off Cosey Beach Avenue in close proximity to the East Haven Town Beach.  While not a large piece of land, all wetlands are very important to the landscape, and provide numerous benefits for people and wildlife.  Several important functions of wetlands are to protect and improve water quality, provide habitats for fish and wildlife, and store floodwater to maintain surface water flow during dry periods.  Wetlands also store carbon within their plant communities and soil instead of releasing it to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.  In other words, wetlands can help moderate global climate conditions.
